A Toastmasters champion and a world-renowned artist have combined their skills into a social art movement that is spreading kindness and generosity around the globe.

Garret Garrels, a 4-time district winner and top 18 finalist in the Toastmasters World Championship of Public Speaking, and Tim Holmes, the first American artist ever to exhibit solo at the Hermitage Museum, are touring Europe with their presentation/performance called Random Gifts of Art.

Through humorous stories with lyrical language, comedic acting and improv, Garret and Tim share their experiences and explain traveling as a metaphor for life. Often traveling is about getting from point A to point B, as fast as possible, without experiencing the many possibilities that exist when we slow down and meet some of the many strangers along our journey.

Random Gifts of Art reclaims the rightful definition of interpersonal connection. It’s the story of two people sharing their problems and stumbling upon a common solution that opens up a new world of possibilities for them both. Giving away art, connecting with strangers, enlivening rather than killing time, this project shows how contagious generosity can be.

Random Gifts of Art (In English)
Random Gifts of Art is a combination of storytelling, comedy, and audience interaction that reclaims the rightful definition of connection. Experience how two people share their problems and stumble upon a common solution that opens up a new world of possibilities for both of them. Giving away art, connecting with strangers, enlivening rather than killing time, this project shows how contagious generosity can be.

Garret says, “We grow up with two types of conflicting advice. We’re told to make new friends, but not to talk with strangers. In reality, the only way to make new friends is to talk with strangers. Connecting with strangers has taught us that underneath the skin, human beings are made up of so much of the same stuff that there is little room for conflict over our differences. This message has never been more important than right now. Right now––in the present––we’re building our future by the way we choose to interact with strangers. We are connected to this world by relationships; with other people and with ourselves. Those relationships are connected by the giving and receiving of gifts: kindness, respect, acceptance…”

Here’s what people have been saying about the performance:
“If Ghandi and Charlie Chaplin did a show, this is what it’d be.”
„It was fabulous! Very inspirational and thought provoking. A must experience.“
“My son, who attended and is 28 and, for the most part, jaded, said “that was one of the coolest things you’ve drug me to, thanks.”
“So many emotions in such a short period. I laughed the whole time, and left with a new way of way of viewing the world. I can’t stop thinking about it.
